A super long tag from Earwen!

This one looks fun. =) Here it goes...

1- Have you been asked out? Yes, actually. But that was purely on just a friendship, joking around level.

2 - Where was your default picture taken? What is my profile pic? Umm, it wasn't exactly taken. It's an avatar I found off this really neat site.

3 - What's your middle name? *suspicious look* Why do you want to know?

4 - Your current relationship status? Waiting for my Fish.

5 - What's the first thing you do when you wake up from a nap? I don't take naps... but when I wake up from sleeping I get out of bed.

6 - What is your current mood? Happy.

7 - What color shirt are you wearing? Purple, black, gray and white striped sweater.

!8 - Missing something? My twiplets, Josie and Fishy.. and my other sister Vicki...

9 - Current Favorite Quote? At the moment... Oooh, toughie... well, my perpetual favorite is "Weddings? I love weddings! Drinks all around!" Haven't heard/read any new really good ones lately. Sad...

10 - If you could go back in time and change something what would be? I'd have to say... I'd change the outcome of Roe vs. Wade.

11 - If you must be an animal for one day, what would you be? I should like to be a mouse for one third of the day, a horse for the second third and a fox for the third third.

12 - Ever had a near death experience? Ummm.... no, not unless you consider virtually doing so on the forum about once every other week...

13 - Something you do a lot? Write - poems, stories, the forum, my blog...

14 - The song stuck in your head? Grandma's Feather Bed. *rolls eyes*

15 - Least favorite household chore? Hmmm, dusting, I guess.

16 - Name someone with the same birthday as you. - Napoleon II

17 - When was the last time you cried? Yesterday. You don't want to know why. =P

18. - Have you ever sung in front of a large audience? In plays, never a solo.

19 - If you could have one super power what would it be? Oooh... just one? Well, I think Olive Tree had a great answer, shapeshifting, so you could shift into people who have other powers.

20 - What's the first thing you notice about the opposite gender? Mmm, I don't know. I suppose whether or not they look like nice people.

21 - What do you usually order from Starbucks? Never been to Starbucks. I don't like coffee.

22 - What's your biggest secret? And you really think I'll tell you my biggest secret? Here, for all the world to see? Ha!

23- What's your favorite color? Greens, purples and blues

24 - Do you still watch kiddie shows or tv shows? Yup! Way to go Veggie Tales!

25 - What's on your walls? Nothing at the moment. :-/ Moving.

26 - What are you? A pirate elf with the blood of Numenor. What else?

27 - Do you speak any other language? A little bit of French and a few words of Spanish.

28 - What's your favorite smell? Caramel, chocolate and peanut butter. And almond extract. And vanilla.

29 - Describe your life in one word! Blessed

30 - Have you ever kissed in the rain? *cough* If I have, no one informed me!

31 - What are you thinking about right now? Er, my poem for today that I need to finish before I go to bed.

32 - What should you be doing? I don't have anything else to do at the moment.

33 - Who was the last person that made you upset/angry? Myself. =P

34 - How often do you talk to God? Mostly in the mornings and evenings, and I try to talk to Him throughout the day as well.

35 - Do you like working in the yard? Nope. Not a yard person.

36 - If you could have any last name in the world, what would you want? I like my last name pretty well, but lets see... Lee, Pevensie or Marchen. Actually, Tolkien would be a really cool last name, especially if one was related to J.R.R. Tolkien.

37 - What is your natural hair color? chestnutty-brown

38 - Do you have many friends? Yes, I am so blessed by them.

39 - Who is your role-model? Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother

Looking for Topics

I find myself in need of your assistance, gentle readers. For these last days of November I am in search of topics to pen poems about. Any suggestions, however detailed or not, complex or not, ridiculous or not - all shall be looked at with eagerness. So please, if you have an idea that you think would make a cool poem, I pray thee, share it with me!

Poll results

It's been a week since my anniversary and the polls are closed, so I shall post the results here before deleting said poll. Thanks to all who voted!

So by first looking at the results of the second poll, we see that
  • 23 people think my blog is great, and love reading it. (Yay! I think so too. ;) )
  • 9 people think that it's a nice blog (I would have to agree with them.)
  • And 0 people didn't like it at all! (Which is very encouraging, because that means people are only reading this if they want to! )
Next we have the first poll second. =) Wherein I asked the question every blogger needs to know "What do you like the most about my blog?"
  • 9 people prefer the serious stuff
  • 25 people like the funny stuff (We love to laugh!)
  • Only 5 people like the devotional posts the best
  • 24 people enjoy the weird, random and unexpected things (Yes, I rather like those myself.)
  • And 13 people like the lovely music you have playing

Well, those are the results and I shall do my best to keep your interests in mind! Thank you all for voting!

Feast of Christ the King

Today is the feast of Christ the King, an important feast in the Catholic Church, as well as the end of the liturgical year. It follows naturally that I would write today's poem about Our Lord. I'm afraid it is not very good, but I hope it will please Him.

All give hail to our glorious King
Majesty He is, peace He brings
In resplendent array He comes
King of our hearts, King of our homes
With glad voices His praises sing.

With mercy for every being
Can't you see Him kind smiling?
Arms wide open and warm welcome
King of our Hearts

He makes an end of suffering
No more will we feel death's sharp sting
No better place then His Kingdom
Such a King brings joy to thralldom
His love is here in everything
King of our Hearts.

So the latest fad on the FT Forum is creating Facebook pages for our characters. I made a page for the adventure when I was a wee lass of ten, gone back in time with my triplets Jo and Therese to Attolia and lived for a time with Eugenides and Irene. =) Gen taught me how to be a theif and I eventually became the Kings Thief. Beware of Self

This poem - which I wrote yesterday - was inspired by chapter 5 of "The King of the Golden City". My theater troupe will be performing a stage adaption of this lovely tale next summer, and to prepare for it we are doing an "imersion". At each of our meetings we are split into four groups. One group listens to and acts out two chapters of the story literally. A second group acts out the chapters in a modern format. The other two groups do different skits.
The chapter for yesterday was about not giving into Self, a natural choice in theme for my poem.

Beware of Self
Beware the fight when you awake.
Do not give into Self.
Be careful of what choice you make,
It may destroy your health.

Do not give into Self.
When she tells you to stay abed,
It may destroy your health.
Why don't you go to Mass instead?

When she tells you to stay abed,
Say no, go on your way.
Why don't you go to Mass instead?
How good will be your day!

Say no, go on your way,
When Self urges you to give in.
How good will be your day,
If you deny your selfish whim.

When Self urges you to give in,
Resist for your dear King.
If you deny your selfish whim,
You will to Him joy bring.

Resist for your dear King
All the evils that will appear.
You will to Him joy bring
To the King you are, oh, so dear.

Beware the fight when you awake,
All the evils that will appear.
Be careful of what choice you make,
To the King you are oh, so dear.

I Can't Believe I'm Posting This

...Presenting "The Ballad of Tadpole the Trout", a goofy nonesense poem that was the outcome of yesterday's PePoWriMo. Please keep the rotten vegetables to yourself, because I kinda like it.

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

There was a trout called Tadpole

On account his mum a frog

He’d take a lark an’ take a stroll

Chase a cat and splash at the dog!

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

Now Tadpole was a lil’ trout

But big at heart, doncha know

Beat a whale in a race full out

Ridin’ his big ole Kerflado!

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

One day Tad went for some fun

An’ met with a flibber-foo

He sent that flibber on the run

Chasin’ after yellin’ “Yahoo!”

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

Then one time when out Tad sailed

He found hisself in the air

Got catched by Quap, no good to flail

So the poor trout had to stay there!

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

But Tad wasn’t done, oh no

When Quap tried to eat him up

Back up Quap’s throat Tad he did go

Knocking him out with a wallup!

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

Tad walked back to his ole home

Splashin’ back inna water

An’ still afar he would go roam

All a searchin’ for adventure!

Tadpole is a fine lad he

Merry as ye’d e’er see

Swim inn a lake, Swim inna sea

Hi ho Tadpole happy an’ free!

To go find the world’s far end

Aye an’ that was Tadpole’s dream

Said good-bye to family an’ friend

To this day he ain’t e’er been seen!

Tadpole is a fine lad he

No one knows where he yet be

He inna lake or inna sea

Your guess’ll be as good as me!

TWO YEARS!

Yes my dear and beloved blog readers, two years ago today I hit the fatal "Create Blog Button" and history was made!

It seems like only yesterday that I was typing up my one year anniversary post... and the day before that I was typing up my introduction! How time flies!

I have a couple things planned in celebration. First is a lovely new header made by Earwen. Second is two polls to kind of give me an idea what y'all think o' me little blog. And last.... well, you'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see that!

In the meantime, here's some cake!

5 Quick Takes Saturday - Vol 22

~ 1 ~
I love country music. And country music artists. While some of them can get a bit off track - as do the majority of entertainers - for the most part country singers have their heads on straight. Carrie Underwood for example. We had on the radio last night and at the time Carrie had called in to be on the show and listeners were calling in and asking questions. One caller asked, "What do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years?"
It was so refreshing to hear Carrie respond that she was just going to wait and see what God had planned for her, because if you plan out your future you might miss something that you should be doing. So great to hear from a rising country star!

~ 2 ~

Here is the poem that I wrote yesterday for PePoWriMo. It's a terzanelle, a cross between a villanelle and a terza rima. It's fun to write!

Why must you go away my love?
It is more than my heart can bear.
Why must you go away my love?

Aren't we our lives supposed to share?
Don't go and leave me all alone,
It is is more than my heart can bear.

What will I do when you aren't home?
The thought of it makes me afraid,
Don't go and leave me all alone.

Don't make us wish that you had stayed,
What if something happens to us?
The thought of it makes me afraid.

You know sometimes it's hard to trust
That everything will be alright.
What if something happens to us?

I will wait for you this long night.
Why must you go away my love?
As from my eyes the tears I fight.
Why must you go away my love?

~ 3 ~

I just realized that I haven't shared my tragic Itallian love poem with you! Shame on me!

Lament for Ravioli
I made my ravioli, so
Plump and so smooth. In the pot I
Set it to cook, my lovely dough.
Could I’ve known I must say good-bye?

For the phone rang and I forgot
All about my simmering pot.
My ravioli’d burst, ‘twas gone.
I shall as well ‘fore very long.

You see, this form of poetry is called a rispetto, and is an Italian form. I wanted to write something depressing, but the more I thought of it, I just couldn't! I mean, Italian's just aren't depressing people! So I decided I must write a love poem, which would be fitting. But about what exactly? While I was thinking, I randomly mentioned how the thought of ravioli was just filling my mind during Mass that morning... and a depressing Italian love poem resulted.

~ 4 ~

While this next quick take may seem more like something you'd read on Random Profound Thoughts, I assure you I am totally serious about this.

So I have realized that I never enlightened my dear readers on the new term for cute guys! (That you don't want to date).

It all stemmed from a discussion I had with some friends of mine. My one friend (Friend A) drew a super amazing picture of Ben Barnes. Now Friend B and I saw it and were "Oh my gosh, he is so CUTE!!!!" However, Friend C didn't seem to like that, rolling her eyes and saying we sounded just like the girls at the highschool she has to take some classes at.

Now, we tried to tell her that you can in fact say that a random guy or actor is cute in an objective manner, without meaning you have a crush or are all fangirly or whatever. Cute is just an alternative adjective. If you say "cute" instead of "handsome" or "good looking", then you say "cute" instead of "handsome" or "good looking!" (and to be honest, saying "cute" is way more fun then saying "good looking") Well, Friend C wasn't having any of it.

So I mentioned this to Lanta the other night, and her remedy was that we just needed to come up with another word. At first she picked "gory"(cute=hunk, hunk= hunky dory, dory sounds like gory). Then, after Lanta, my sisters Yaviel and Kathleen and I had a bubble/Shakespearian conversation, I had the brilliant idea that cute guys are - bubbles!

And there you have it. Cute guys are bubbles.

~ 5 ~

One last long - er, quick, take. My sisters and I came up with some 'song albums' by LotR characters....

Bonus Track: I Can’t Wait ‘Till He’s King
Critic Review: This latest Arwen release is a joy to the elvish ear… a glistening waterfall of sound, cascading melodies and flowing rhythm. Both her instrumentals (like Longsleeves) and vocals (The amazing Ode to Eowyn, for example) are pinnacles of her genre. Alas, this glistening gem is marred by one fatal flaw… her rather jarring break from her typical style into a rocking “I Can’t Wait ‘Till He’s King.” We suspect it is a parody of another popular song. ~ Noteriel

Totally Awesome Tag

First, list twelve characters from any fandom, then answer the questions below.

1. Matthias of Redwall
2. Sir William Wallace (as in Wallace from The Scottish Chiefs NOT Braveheart)
3. Rose Brier
4. Pippin
5. Elizabeth Bennet
6. Will Turner
7. Saruman
8. Martin the Warrior
9. Eowyn
10. Rachel Durham
11. Edmond Dantes
12. Smaug

1. Who would make a better collage prof, 6 or 11?
Mmm, sorry Will, but Edmond Dantes wouls soooo be a better professor than you!

2. Do you think #2 is hot?
*snickers* Hot? No, but William Wallace is definitely a bubble!

3. 12 sends 8 out on a mission. What is it? Does it succeed?
HA! Smaug the dragon sending Martin the Warrior mouse out on a mission... probably to kill the dwarves. And I rather doubt it would succeed, Martin being so noble and all would probably try to kill Smaug.

4. What is or what would be 9's favorite book?
Eowyn's favorite book... The Scottish Chiefs, because Helen secretly loving Wallace is like Eowyn secretly loving Aragorn... only Helen is absolutely NOTHING like Eowyn.

5. Would it make more since for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
Oh, definitely the other way around. I cannot see William Wallace swearing fealty to Will Turner.

6. For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should (s)he room with 9 or 10?
Oooh... toughie... hmmm, Elizabeth Bennet and Eowyn or Elizabeth Bennet and Rachel Durham? Oh, probably Liz would room with Rachel.

7. 2, 7 and 12 are going out to dinner. Where do they go and what do they discuss?
ROTFL!!!! Sir William Wallace, Saruman and Smaug??!?!?!?! Oh my gosh... well, Smaug and Wallace would probably have no objection to eating outside, but Saruman would probably want to go to Olive Garden so they'd all argue and Saruman would get killed, then Wallace and Smaug would start discussing the freedom of Scotland and end up battling because Smaug would want to take it over.

8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel, who wins?
Oh this is toooo funny! Rose Brier challenges Rachel Durham to a duel.... Hmm, Rachel would probably win.

9. If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would (s)he get it back?
Oh man, the random order I picked these people is HILARIOUS!!!!! So let's see, if Matthias of Redwall stole Martin the Warrior's most precious possession (AKA, his sword), well, Martin might go ask for it back and tell Matthias to just wait for a little bit because he's gonna get someday anyhow.

10. Suggest a story title in which 7 and 12 both attain what they desire.
Of Rings and Gold

11. What kind of plot device would you have to use if you wanted 1 and 4 to work together?
A plot device... well, let's see with Matthias and Pippin I'd probably have to stress the adventure side of it to Matthias and promise Pippin a huge Redwall feast.

12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would it go?
Well, if I told Saruman that I liked that actor who played him much better than the actor who played Gandalf, we might be at least tolerable for a little bit. He might get a little mad though when I tell me that if he had just been nice things would have worked out so much better for him.

13. If you could command 3 to perform any service or task for you, what would it be?
Well first, I wouldn't command Rose to do anything for me, because hopefully she would be my friend and I could just ask! As for what I would ask.... I would ask if she would pretty please steal Fish's hat for me. =)

14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11?
Umm... I don't think so... at least if they've ever written about or drawn Edmond Dantes they've never told me!

15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, what side would (s)he choose?
Hmmm, I think that Wallace would probably side with Pippin over Elizabeth Benent... Scottish accented people hafta stick together. ;) Plus Wallace would agree more with Pippin's cause then Lizzy's...

16. What might 10 shout out while charging into battle?
FOR FREEDOM!!!!!

17. If you had to choose a song to best describe 8, what would it be?
This is Home by Switchfoot. Very Martin the Warrior song. Very.

18. 1, 6 and 12 are having a dim sum at a Chinese Restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets it?
Hmmm... Matthias of Redwall... Will Turner... Smaug... well, given the fact that Smaug is the biggest, he'd probably get it.

19. What would be a good pickup line for 2 to say to 10?
Okay.. William Wallace and Rachel Durham... er, um "Have you ever been to Scotland?" I don't know.

20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for?
Elizabeth Bennet? Ha ha.... maybe for abusing the rich people of England?

21. What is 6's secret?
Will Turner... I think you mean secrets? Well, there was the time was one of the times he made secret deals with Beckett.

22. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
Edmond Dantes and Eowyn? Hee hee... mmm, probably Edmund, but Eowyn would be close behind.

23. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, who would you feel more comfortable walking with, 7 or 8?
Oh Martin the Warrior, most definitely. I would not feel comfortable walking with Saruman.

24. 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that s/he is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?

Oh wow... Matthias, Eowyn, Elizabeth Bennet, Smaug and Rose Brier up against Edmond Dantes and Pippin? War of the Worlds!

Aw man, that's it? That was sooooo fun! I now tag whomever wants to do this!

Best friend #1: *giggles* I have eagerly searched for "Champ" the sea monster in every body of water I passed... even puddles. (Remember that Fishy?) Oh, and nicknamed her Fishy. ;)
Best friend # 2: Taken walks around the neighborhood belting out "The Phantom of the Opera" at the tops of our lungs.
Best friend #3: Well, I can't remember anything in particular at the moment, but I know we've done some pretty crazy things together!
Best friend #4: Gone bowling and entered in our "pirate names" instead of our real names on the scoreboard. =)
Have you ever held an alligator? Good heavens no!
Have you ever let a snake slither through your fingers? I shiver at the thought.
What is your first and foremost dream in life? To go to Heaven ... but that's kind of 'after life', so dedicating my life to getting to Heaven, as well as becoming a wife and mother.
What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation is to Middle Earth. Next choice is New Zealand.
What is the funniest movie you have ever seen? The funniest movie I've ever seen... Hmm, well, there's any of the Abbot and Costello movies.
What is your favorite song? Currently? Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant
If you could change the world in one way, what would you do? I would make America a Christian nation again.

Hush, Hush, Lullaby

Hush, hush, baby bye
Hush, hush, don't you cry
Hum now softly sigh
Listen to my lullaby
Hush, hush, baby bye

Listen to my voice sing
No need to fear a thing
Back and forth my arms swing
Hush, hush, baby bye

Hush, hush, baby bye
Hush, hush, don't you cry
Hum now softly sigh
Listen to my lullaby
Hush, hush, baby bye

Let my love enfold you
Let me hear my baby coo
All I tell you is true
Hush, hush, baby bye

Hush, hush, baby bye
Hush, hush, don't you cry
Hum now softly sigh
Listen to my lullaby
Hush, hush, baby bye

When the tossing storm shout
Fell my arms go 'round about
I will drown the noise out
Hush, hush, baby bye

Hush, hush, baby bye
Hush, hush, don't you cry
Hum now softly sigh
Listen to my lullaby
Hush, hush, baby bye

Hush, hush my baby mine
I will love you 'till I die
Mother's love is the sky
Hush, hush baby bye

Hush, hush, baby bye
Hush, hush, don't you cry
Hum now softly sigh
Listen to my lullaby
Hush, hush, baby bye

Hush, hush
Hush, hush
Hush, hush baby mine

The Warrior

This poem is a villanelle (though I changed the format a little bit). It was inspired by "The Warrior" composed by Eric Genuis, which you can listen to here.

The trumpet sounds a fanfare,
A flute begins to play.
Can you hear the warrior there?

The piano's notes must have their share
The violins swirl fast.
The trumpet sounds a fanfare.

Triumphant is the sound in air
Boldly the melody shouts
Can you hear the warrior there?

Marching, clashing, the music shares
Rousing themes with the world
The trumpet sounds a fanfare.

Calling out so loud and clear.
Beat, hearts, wi' the notes.
Can you hear the warrior there?

A noble hero, throw away care!
Instruments fill the soul,
The trumpets sound a fanfare.
Can you hear the warrior there?

Poems for Today

Alright, here are me poems today! I wasn't home for most of the day, so I tried out some shorter styles of poetry. First I have a Diamante, a simple style I've been wanting to try for a while.

Hell
Dark, Fearful
Burning, Screaming, Crying
Despair, Hope, Pain, Peace
Singing, Healing, Praising
Light, Joy
Heaven

It's interesting. And then I wrote a couple of Limericks, because I just love limericks. The first one is called "Stuck in My Head" and pretty much describes the state of my mind since I watched these two awesome videos on YouTube. (Video 1 and Video 2).

What to do when songs stick in my head?
Drives me insane! Wish I were dead.
Singing "The Way I Loved You"
Song I don't know the words to...
I regard my mind with a great dread.

The next one is an oxymoron. (AKA a serious limerick.)

She sinks down into a swirling mist,
The shadows 'round her whisper and hiss.
They curse and they bite
Throughout the long night.
A deadly embrace and fatal kiss.

PePoWriMo

So in addition to appointing myself Official NaNoWriMo Cheerleader on the Forum (along with Ella)
and NaNoWriMo Psychiatrist (for those writers who need to rant, sob, complain, vent and kill someone)
I have invented a November activity for moi, called "PePoWriMo". PePoWriMo stands for Personal Poetry Writing Month. It's 'personal' and not 'national', because well... I'm the one doing it. ;)

The goal I've set for myself is to write on poem every day for the month of November, all about different topics, and trying to use a wide variety of poetry styles! I started yesterday, so I've got one poem written. I haven't written today's poem yet.

This event was inspired by Lanta asking me if I wrote a lot of poetry, me answering no, her commenting that that was sad, and me agreeing with her. So by the end of November I shall have at least 28 poems! I'll try and post all or most of them up here for any who are interested to read.

Here is my poem from yesterday.

All Soul's Day

The dead were dead and laying still, in
Cold caskets buried beneath the grim ground.
No record was there of virtue or sin,
They lay forgotten, no mourners around.

'Tis only their bodies that lay there so still
The soul of Life is departed and gone.
Waiting are they with hope, waiting until
Kind prayers should free them from Purg'tories bond.

Yet no prayer is said for all those who wait,
No please is uttered, they are forgotten.
Denied the joys of Heaven that is their fate,
Suffering on their own, no helping friend.

Remember them in prayer, say one today.
Loved ones may forget, forgotten are they.

Halloween Pictures!

For Halloween this year we didn't go trick-or-treating (colds and we don't need the candy, alas). No, instead Kathleen, Yaviel, my mom and my sister whom I STILL haven't come up with a nickname for did something much more fun... went to go see a play of "The Hobbit!" It was soooo cool, and very well done!

In honor of the occasion, Yavi, Kathleen and I dressed up. :)

I am the hobbit, Yaviel is the elf and Kathleen is a woman from LakeTown. (I couldn't convince her to be a dwarf...) Yaviel being taller than me came in handy for once, as it made me look more like a hobbit when I stood next to her.

Since I was being a hobbit, of course I had to curl my hair! I took too long to do the first half (or else started too late) and so I was frantically finishing the second half ten minutes before we had to leave. It turned out very curly...

And so that, my dear people, is how I celebrated Halloween this year.

Ps. In case you were wondering, I dressed as Servant of God Rose Hawthorne for All Saints Day, but I don't have pictures. :P

All Souls Day

Prayer of Saint Gertrude the Great for the Souls in Purgatory
It was promised that each time this prayer was recited,
1,000 souls would be released from Purgatory into Heaven.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

Psalm 69

Deign, O Lord, to rescue me; O Lord, make haste to help me Let them be put to shame and confounded who seek my life. Let them be turned back in disgrace who desire my ruin. Let them retire in their shame who say to me, "Aha, aha!" But may all who seek Thee exult and be glad in Thee, And may those who love Thy salvation say ever, "God be glorified!" But I am afflicted and poor; O God, hasten to me! Thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, hold not back!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Save Thy servants.
Who trust in Thee, O my God.
Be a tower of strength for us, O Lord,
Against the attack of the enemy.
Let not the enemy prevail against us.
And let not the son of evil dare to harm us.
O Lord, deal not with us according to our sins.
Neither requite us according to our iniquities.

Let us pray for a true Sovereign Shepherd
The Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
Let us pray for our benefactors.
Deign, O Lord, for Thy name's sake, to reward with eternal life all those who do us good. Amen.
Let us pray for the faithful departed.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord;
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
Amen.

V. For our absent brethren.
R. Save Thy servants, who trust in Thee, my God.
V. Send them help, O Lord, from Thy sanctuary.
R. And sustain them from Zion.

V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
V. The Lord be with Thee.
R. And with Thy spirit.

Let us pray.
O God, Whose property is always to have mercy and to spare, receive our petition, that we, and all Thy servants who are bound by the chains of sin, may, by the compassion of Thy goodness, be mercifully absolved.

Graciously hear, we beg Thee, O Lord, the prayers of Thy suppliants, and pardon the sins of those who confess to Thee, that in Thy bounty Thou may grant us both pardon and peace.

In Thy clemency, O Lord, show us Thy ineffable mercy, that Thou may both free us from all our sins, and deliver us from the punishments which we deserve for them.

O God, Who by sin are offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy suppliant people, and turn away the scourges of Thy anger, which we deserve for our sins.
Almighty, everlasting God, have mercy upon Thy servant N., our Sovereign Pontiff, and direct him according to Thy clemency into the way of everlasting salvation, that by Thy grace he may desire those things that are pleasing to Thee, and perform them with all his strength.

O God, from Whom are holy desires, good counsels, and just works, give to Thy servants that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts be set to keep Thy commandments, and that, being removed from the fear of our enemies, we may pass our time in peace under Thy protection.

Burn our desires and our hearts with the fire of the Holy Spirit, O Lord, that we may serve Thee with a chaste body, and with a clean heart be pleasing to Thee.

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of Thy servants and handmaids the remission of all their sins, that, through devout prayers, they may obtain the pardon which they always desired.

Direct, we beg Thee, O Lord, our actions by Thy holy inspirations, and carry them on by Thy gracious assistance, that every prayer and work of ours may begin always with Thee, and through Thou be happily ended.

Almighty and everlasting God, Thou hast dominion over the living and the dead, and Thou art merciful to all who Thou foreknowest will be Thine by faith and good works; we humbly beg Thee that those for whom we intend to pour forth our prayers, whether this present world still detain them in the flesh, or the world to come has already received them out of their bodies, may, through the intercession of all Thy Saints, by the clemency of Thy goodness, obtain the remission of all their sins. Through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
V. May the almighty and merciful Lord graciously hear us. R. Amen.

V. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. R. Amen
