About Me

Hello, and welcome to my blog!  If you followed me at any point from 2011 to early 2014 you probably knew my blog as Come Along Pond!  As you can see, I now call myself Books, Roses and Wine... Oh My!, a title that I felt better fit the person I've become.  I love books, my confirmation name is Rose and roses have been a significant motif in my life, and as I'm past the age of twenty-one now (March of 2013!) I am developing an appreciation for wine, particularly of the good but under $10 sort.

I am Catholic. I'm trying to love God as best as I can and follow the story that He has written out for me, obeying the plot He has set out and trying not to add in any plot twists of my own that don't belong in the story.  With all the amazing things that have happened in my life, I know beyond a doubt that God is writing my life's story with all the attention and care of any good author and I am in constant anticipation for what exciting new plot thread He will reveal next.

After being Catholic... well, I'm a lot of things.  I'm the daughter of two wonderful and amazing parents, I'm the older sister of 6 great, if sometimes frustrating, siblings.  After a two year stint at a wonderful and amazing (but sadly expensive) private school, I'm currently back in college and working towards my Associates degree in Meeting and Special Event Planning.

I do enjoy me some good TV shows - such Doctor Who. And Psych. And Sherlock. And... a lot of things. I love history, especially the American Civil War.  (Confederate and the war was fought over state's rights, not slavery).  I love to read... The Lord of the Rings, The Fairy Tale Novels, Sherlock Holmes, Persuasion, Gone for Soldiers and the Civil War trilogy by Michael and Jeff Shaara, a lot of fluffy chick lit (I may be a closet Nicholas Sparks fan), Agatha Christie, Austen knock offs, historical drama, mysteries... the list goes on and on.  I'm pretty quiet in person, but once I warm up and you get me on the right subject I can talk as long as you'll let me.  I stay within the bounds of acceptable behavior, for the most part, but every once in a while I will indeed "decide to go out and do something very crazy and very right, just to dare [myself] to live.  I don't mean doing something stupid and destructive - just something fun and good and beautiful" (Bear, The Shadow of the Bear).  And yes, if a mad man with a box ever asked me to run away with him, I'd probably say yes.

I am also the girlfriend of a wonderful and amazing young man, to whom I am his Lady and whom I consider to be my Knight. We live in different parts of the country, and though being in a long distance relationship is so hard, it is completely worth it and if given the choice I would do it all over again. He is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and utterly amazing and I doubt this is the last time you will be hearing about him.

So feel free to grab a good book, sniff a couple roses and sit down to share a glass of wine with me!
