Ok, I want you all to look at these photos and try and guess what this building is before finding out the shocking truth. Try and remember what you thought it was before you found out and tell me in the comment box! (We found this via e-mail.)
New Cook County Correctional Center, Chicago , Illinois
( I guess if I ever break the law, I'd better do it in Illinois !
Homeless people should have it so good! Once again the taxpayer gets stung.
It also shows that in most cases the quality of life for prisoners has improved considerably from what you might expect. And I always thought prison was for punishment.!!!!!
Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this comparison chart should make things a little bit clearer:
@ PRISON You spend most of your time in a 10X10 cell | @ WORK You spend most of your time in a 6X6 cubicle |
@ PRISON You get three fully paid for meals a day | @ WORK You get a break for one meal, and you have to pay for it |
@ PRISON For good behavior, you get time off | @ WORK For good behavior, you get more work |
@ PRISON The guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you | @ WORK You must carry a security card and open all the doors yourself |
@ PRISON You can watch TV and play games | @ WORK You could get fired for watching TV and playing games |
@ PRISON You get your own toilet | @ WORK You have to share the toilet with people who pee on the seat |
@ PRISON They allow your family and friends to visit | @ WORK You aren't even supposed to speak to your family |
@ PRISON All expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required on your part | @ WORK You must pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners |
@ PRISON You spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out | @ WORK You spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars |
@ PRISON You must deal with sadistic wardens | @ WORK They are called managers / Supervisor |
THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. |
Good heavens, what is this world coming to!
Uhh.....Ok this is too embarrasing I don't think I'm going to post it. LOL! Ok it was a WILD guess! At first I thought: CAR STRUCTURE! Next I thought: A BIG FANCY HOTEL! Next: EXPENSZE APARTMENTS! NEXT: A FUN PLACE! *Hannah and danny look at all pictures and then look at eachother. say at the same time:* "LET'S GO TO JAIL!" LOL! THAT IS PRETTY SAD!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't even look like a jail. At first glance it would probably look like an office building.
ReplyDeleteI thought hotel at first and then as I scrolled down I thought maybe a house...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness!
I've been in jails and prisons before, but never one this posh. Yet, I had only looked at about the first 3 or 4 photos when I thought, "It looks like a prison." By the time I got to the bottom of the post I was LOL.
ReplyDeleteActually, now that I think about it, I did think "That looks like a prison" when I saw the bars on the windows...Keep in mind that these men have no freedom. Would we really want to have our freedom taken away just to live in a cool looking building?
ReplyDeleteBtw, if you notice in the picture of the single apartment, it really isn't that big.
Fairy Godmother ~ I actually only wrote the sentances before the photos, and the very lasy one. Everything else was the e-mail.
ReplyDeleteThank you though, for the corrections. Still, those are some neat photos! For a jail, any ways.
@ Fishie ~ You're alive!!!!!! Whohoo!
Wow, so many comments... I should always do controversial and true/not true posts... if only to see "7 comments" waiting on my dashboard!
Wow, I actually thought it was a office building, but then when I saw the bars on the windows I thought it was a prison, but couldn't believe it!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for sharing,
Jo March
Amanda, just to clarify... I knew that the whole "comparison" chart was from the email too (meaning I knew you didn't write it). :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I noticed that the web link I tried to share was cut off, so here is it again:
