Graduation Meme

Over on the Fairy Tale Novels Forum we're having a sort of celebration for all the graduates, and I along with another member came up with this meme for us to do.  I thought I'd post mine on here and invite any other graduates to do it as well!  Let me know if you're going to do it so I can read yours!

Is there a book that you read/movie you saw during your most recent period of schooling (i.e. 8th grade, HS, college) that has had an impact on your life?
I'd have to say that the book(s) that had the biggest impact on my life were the Fairy Tale Novels. If I hadn't read them, I wouldn't have joined the forum. If I hadn't joined the forum, I wouldn't know all the wonderful people I know now, my view of the world would have been much narrower... and I wouldn't be a part of "Ink and Fairydust". And if it hadn't been for Ink and Fairydust, chances are I still would be trying to figure out what to major in for college. Thank you Regina!

The movie that had a big impact on my life was "Gods and Generals". It awakened me to a fascinating time in American History and to great men and heroes. I learned that there are two sides to every issue, and a lot of times generic history books don't give the correct view of things.

Has your personal taste in music/books/movies changed or evolved in any way during this time?
Books and movies, not so much. Music, yes. Around freshman year the CD's I listened to were Disney classics and these two CD's of classical movies. In the past four years my music horizons have opened WIDE up, and I now LOVE Country, some rock, movie soundtracks, Josh Groban... really anything that has good emotion. I still don't go in for the thumping screaming rock... that's just a little too... out there, for me.

Is there any moment in your schooling that you can honestly say had a big impact on your life?
I can't pin down any specific moment, but I do know that over my junior and senior, I started to actually enjoy school and really love to learn things. School became more fun instead of just something I had to do.

What is/was your favorite subject in school and how has it affected you?
History, hands down. The world has such an amazing history - our country, has such an amazing history, especially when you learn it through a Catholic lens. I think a strong knowledge of history is vital, if you know your history you can better avoid making the same huge mistakes that other people made a decade before you.

Favorite Quote/Motto?
I actually just got this at my High School graduation. The mom who organized the graduation said that when she approached our new auxiliary bishop about saying the Mass for us, his response was:
"My life is not my own. I am at your service."

Who's your favorite author and why?
J.R.R. Tolkien and Regina Doman. Regina Doman for the reasons I said above, and Tolkien because he is just soooo amazing. He's such a profound writer and I just love how his Catholicism is deeply ingrained in his writings.

What historical figure, saint, writer, etc. has influenced you the most in highschool and why?
St. Jude. NO not Judas, St. Jude Thaddeus! For the first two years of performing in "The Seven Last Words of Christ", I portrayed St. Jude and I've become great friends with him. He's really just an amazing guy.

How do you differ from yourself from 4 years ago? Is there any advice you would share with your younger self?
I hope I'm more mature now! I cringe at some of the memories I have of myself. If I could go back, I'd say, "Girl, you are far from being grown up at 16! You still have a LOT to learn."

Who is someone who has influenced the way you think/influenced you spiritually?
My parents, of course. Also, I have been blessed with a wonderful "fairy godmother" (aka confirmation sponsor) who has watched over me and encouraged and inspired me spiritually. I have been so fortunate to know her!

What's your favorite flower?
Believe it or not, it's not roses. Pansies are my favorite flower. They're little, and the multiple colors are just gorgeous!

What were some great moments from graduation?
I will always remember jumping around and throwing our caps in the air, and then jumping off the bleachers at the reception, trying to get a "High School Musical" pose. That and my friend Olivia smearing frosting over everyone's faces...

Have any plans for the future?
For right now, God is sending me off to college and a major in Interactive Media! After that... still have yet to discover!

Friends!

Both Blanche and Katharyn tagged me for this!  Thanks girls!

Choose any amount of friends real or blog and say at least two things or more that you admire or like about them. Tag and make sure you link to them.

Blanche
Blanche is a very sweet and lovely girl, and I have the honor of being her 'mother' on the Fairy Tale Novels Forum!  She makes a wonderful 'oldest daughter' and an even better friend.  I can't wait to meet her offline someday!

Katharyn
Katharyn is another one of my lovely daughters on the forum.  I admire her the most for her maturity... she's only 13, but she talks and act like some much older!  That's a rare thing in this modern world where most people our age are - sadly - rather immature.  On top of that, she loves foxes too, which is totally awesome!

Elenatintil
I have yet to meet Elena in person, having only become acquainted with her over the Forum.  She has become a very dear friend, older sister and role model for me.  I am constantly amazed out how much she manages to get done, all the projects she undertakes and completes so well.

Ella
Ella is my favoritest niece on the Forum, and a dear friend as well.  She is so much fun to laugh and chat with, and I know I can always come to her with anything that weighs heavily on my chest.  She doesn't mind my chatting with her until past midnight when I need someone to talk to, or when I pm her with my little questions.  =)

Lanta
Lanta is my second favoritest niece on the forum.  Hopefully I shall be able to meet her this summer!  She is so delightfully funny and random and I can be as insane as I want to around her without worrying that she'll think I've finally lost it.  (Though that happened a long time ago...)  I love when we have such disturbing and morbid discussions and plots over the phone, we must give the government agents who spy on people's conversations an interesting time!

Lady Cordelia
It's been almost four years since I met Lady Cordelia at our high school graduation.  We didn't get to know each other right away, neither of us really being the type to walk up to someone we didn't know and strike up a conversation - despite the fact that I very much wanted to talk to her, since we both had the same names.  But luckily we were able to meet again after that and I now count her as one of my dearest friends. I love her quiet, hidden fun side and her amazing acting talents.  I mean really, she is so good!  But I won't tell say anymore about it 'cause I don't want her to die of embarrassment when she reads this. ;)

Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, the 1964 one.

Do you like listening to Christmas music?
Oh yes!

Sure, it was fun!

Totally Awesome Tag

First, list twelve characters from any fandom, then answer the questions below.

1. Matthias of Redwall
2. Sir William Wallace (as in Wallace from The Scottish Chiefs NOT Braveheart)
3. Rose Brier
4. Pippin
5. Elizabeth Bennet
6. Will Turner
7. Saruman
8. Martin the Warrior
9. Eowyn
10. Rachel Durham
11. Edmond Dantes
12. Smaug

1. Who would make a better collage prof, 6 or 11?
Mmm, sorry Will, but Edmond Dantes wouls soooo be a better professor than you!

2. Do you think #2 is hot?
*snickers* Hot? No, but William Wallace is definitely a bubble!

3. 12 sends 8 out on a mission. What is it? Does it succeed?
HA! Smaug the dragon sending Martin the Warrior mouse out on a mission... probably to kill the dwarves. And I rather doubt it would succeed, Martin being so noble and all would probably try to kill Smaug.

4. What is or what would be 9's favorite book?
Eowyn's favorite book... The Scottish Chiefs, because Helen secretly loving Wallace is like Eowyn secretly loving Aragorn... only Helen is absolutely NOTHING like Eowyn.

5. Would it make more since for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
Oh, definitely the other way around. I cannot see William Wallace swearing fealty to Will Turner.

6. For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should (s)he room with 9 or 10?
Oooh... toughie... hmmm, Elizabeth Bennet and Eowyn or Elizabeth Bennet and Rachel Durham? Oh, probably Liz would room with Rachel.

7. 2, 7 and 12 are going out to dinner. Where do they go and what do they discuss?
ROTFL!!!! Sir William Wallace, Saruman and Smaug??!?!?!?! Oh my gosh... well, Smaug and Wallace would probably have no objection to eating outside, but Saruman would probably want to go to Olive Garden so they'd all argue and Saruman would get killed, then Wallace and Smaug would start discussing the freedom of Scotland and end up battling because Smaug would want to take it over.

8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel, who wins?
Oh this is toooo funny! Rose Brier challenges Rachel Durham to a duel.... Hmm, Rachel would probably win.

9. If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would (s)he get it back?
Oh man, the random order I picked these people is HILARIOUS!!!!! So let's see, if Matthias of Redwall stole Martin the Warrior's most precious possession (AKA, his sword), well, Martin might go ask for it back and tell Matthias to just wait for a little bit because he's gonna get someday anyhow.

10. Suggest a story title in which 7 and 12 both attain what they desire.
Of Rings and Gold

11. What kind of plot device would you have to use if you wanted 1 and 4 to work together?
A plot device... well, let's see with Matthias and Pippin I'd probably have to stress the adventure side of it to Matthias and promise Pippin a huge Redwall feast.

12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would it go?
Well, if I told Saruman that I liked that actor who played him much better than the actor who played Gandalf, we might be at least tolerable for a little bit. He might get a little mad though when I tell me that if he had just been nice things would have worked out so much better for him.

13. If you could command 3 to perform any service or task for you, what would it be?
Well first, I wouldn't command Rose to do anything for me, because hopefully she would be my friend and I could just ask! As for what I would ask.... I would ask if she would pretty please steal Fish's hat for me. =)

14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11?
Umm... I don't think so... at least if they've ever written about or drawn Edmond Dantes they've never told me!

15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, what side would (s)he choose?
Hmmm, I think that Wallace would probably side with Pippin over Elizabeth Benent... Scottish accented people hafta stick together. ;) Plus Wallace would agree more with Pippin's cause then Lizzy's...

16. What might 10 shout out while charging into battle?
FOR FREEDOM!!!!!

17. If you had to choose a song to best describe 8, what would it be?
This is Home by Switchfoot. Very Martin the Warrior song. Very.

18. 1, 6 and 12 are having a dim sum at a Chinese Restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets it?
Hmmm... Matthias of Redwall... Will Turner... Smaug... well, given the fact that Smaug is the biggest, he'd probably get it.

19. What would be a good pickup line for 2 to say to 10?
Okay.. William Wallace and Rachel Durham... er, um "Have you ever been to Scotland?" I don't know.

20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for?
Elizabeth Bennet? Ha ha.... maybe for abusing the rich people of England?

21. What is 6's secret?
Will Turner... I think you mean secrets? Well, there was the time was one of the times he made secret deals with Beckett.

22. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
Edmond Dantes and Eowyn? Hee hee... mmm, probably Edmund, but Eowyn would be close behind.

23. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, who would you feel more comfortable walking with, 7 or 8?
Oh Martin the Warrior, most definitely. I would not feel comfortable walking with Saruman.

24. 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that s/he is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?

Oh wow... Matthias, Eowyn, Elizabeth Bennet, Smaug and Rose Brier up against Edmond Dantes and Pippin? War of the Worlds!

Aw man, that's it? That was sooooo fun! I now tag whomever wants to do this!

Hopeless Romantic Tag

What two qualities do you want most in your future husband?
Hmm, well, i'll put my essentials and my preferences.
Essentials: i'd like him to have a strong faith in God and devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Preferences: it would be very nice if he could and liked to dance and didn't mind humoring the mushy romantic side of me. ;)

Is there a fictional character you see as a model for your future husband?
Well... Fish, Bear and Paul Fester. =)

Where do you want your wedding?
I'd like to be married in a beautiful church or cathedral. (Saint John Cantius?) I'd LOVE to be married at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, but that's not possible, alas.

What are your views on courtship?
I think that courtship as opposed to dating is a very good idea. It seems much more family oriented, instead of just couple oriented. I'd like to get to know his family well, and i want him to get to know my family. (I think...) Of course a couple of "dates" on our own would be fine with me. (Ha ha, my list of places to go on a date is quite, er, unique. 1) To a cathedral for Mass and adoration, 2) a big library, 3) a beautiful forest preserve and take a walk, 5) historical museums, ....)

What are your views on your first kiss?
Well, i'm not so sure i like the "wait until my wedding day" idea. I mean, it's a nice idea and if my future spouse wants it that way then i'll probably agree, but i don't really care for that. I'd really like my first kiss to be right after he says "Will you marry me?" and i say "Oh certainly you most wonderful man! I'd go to the ends of the earth and back with you!" Or something like that. Knowing me i'd probably just say "Yes" and burst into tears. So yes, the first kiss when i get engaged, and then wait until the wedding.

Do you have or want a purity ring/locket?
I have two rings, actually. One is a Claddagh ring and the other is a heart ring that i was given on my 16th birthday. The Claddagh wasn't given to me as a purity ring, but i count it as one anyhow.

Do you have or want a hope chest?
Unfortunatly, i don't have a hope chest. I do want one though!

Will you wear a veil at your wedding?
What kind of question is that!?!?!? Of course i'll have a veil!!!!

What kind of wedding dress do you want?
Oh gosh... umm, well, i think i still want the Civil War huge skirt look, wait no. I want my dress to look just like grandma's on my mom's side. She had an amazingly beautiful dress!

What flowers do you want in your bouquet?
Roses. Red and white ones. They won't really go with my wedding colors (mint green) but who cares? It's my bouquet! Ooh, and maybe some pansies... but no, there stems aren't strong enough. =( That's too bad, i adore pansies.

What do you want to name one of your daughters?
Mariel Rose. Isn't that a lovely name? I actually want all my daughters' first names to be either Mary or a version of Mary. (Marie, Maria and Mariel.... Mariel is the Scottish form, i believe). Mary Alyssa, Maria Chiara and Mary Anasatisa are some more.

What do you want to name one of your sons?
Joshua is my first pick, after Junior of course. Joshua Michael. I would also like a Martin, a Robert, a Matthias and a Marc Gerard.

Do you believe in the 'knight-in-shining-armor' view of courtship?
Well, it depends on what you mean by that. Do i think the perfect man is going to ride up, sweep me off my feet and we'll gallop off into the sunset? No, that'd be silly, especially since most people don't ride horses anymore. They drive cars and driving a pick-up off into the sunset is terribly unromantic. I don't expect the man i marry to be perfect - though i want him to have perfection as his life's goal - and i don't expect his armor to be shinning and undented. Our relationship won't be all sunshine and roses, but if it is what God wants, then it will be beautiful.

So no, i guess i don't quite believe in the 'knight-in-shining armor' view of courtship.

What music do you want to play at your wedding?
Well, at the actual ceremony, i haven't quite thought out.
At the reception: Instrumental or quieter music for during dinner. (Lord of the Rings, Pride and Prejudice, Amazing Grace, Therese, Little Women, Pirates of the Caribbean (yeah yeah, it's not quite, but it's instrumental!) Enya.)
During Dancing: Lotsa country songs! Josh Groban, Hayley Westenra, The dance from the 2005 P&P movie, the very first one that they do at Merryton Town Hall since i sorta know how to do that (That would make an awesome bridal party dance!) ooh, and "Time to Say Good-bye" for the last dance.

Are you a hopeless romantic?
I am, and proud of it!

And i shall tag.....

Narnia Fun

In honor of today being the one year anniversary of the release of the movie "Prince Caspian" (YAY!!!!) i am doing this Narnia Tag that i got from Vicki's blog. =)
(And as an added bonus, here is a link to the review i wrote about it.)

Fav. Narnia Book? The Horse and His Boy (shall reffer to it as HHB)

Fav. Character? Hmm, from the whole series - Aslan of course. And from HHB - Bree!!!!! Who else? ;)

Fav. Pevensie? Lucy is my favorite. Sorry Peter dear!

Fav, King or Queen? Alsan, naturally

Fav. Talking Animal? REEPICHEEP!

Fav. Gift from Father Christmas? That healing juice that Lucy got! Very handy!

Fav. Weapon? Oh lets see... Peter's sword!

Fav. Bad guy? Ooh... hmmm... well, NOT that monkey from The Last Battle. *shivers* Ick. I'd say i like the villian from HHB the best. (And i can't even remember his name. =P Aren't i a wonderful Narnia fan?)

Fav. "added scene" in movies? Okay, some people (a lot of people actually) are going to be mad but... i'm going to have to say the Susan/Caspian kiss. While i don't think they would have worked out in the long run so its fine with me that they got seperated, i do like that part.

Fav outfit (in movie)?

Lucy's going home dress from PC, above and beyond! And then the girl's coronation gowns from LLW

Fav. Line or quote from book or movie?

  1. "Yes, i am a mouse" ~ Reepicheep
  2. "I was so tall!" "You were older then" "As opposed to know, hundreds of years later, when you're younger" ~ Lucy, Susan and Edmund
  3. "Don't you ever get tired of being treated like a kid?" "Um, we are kids?" 'Well i wasn't always." ~ Peter and Emudnd
  4. "I wish you would all stop acting like grown-ups!" "I am a grown-up". ~ Lucy and Trumpkin
  5. “Tell me Prince…” “King.” “Pardon me?” “It’s King Edmund, actually. Just King though. Peter’s the High King. I know. It’s confusing.” ~Miraz and Ed
  6. "Beaver also mentioned you planned on turning him into a hat" ~ Aslan
  7. "Shut up! You think you are dead, but you're not!" ~ Edmund, in the bloopers. ;)

WHO DO YOU LIKE BETTER?

~Mr. or Mrs. Beaver? Oh uh... Mr. Beaver

Orieus or Glenstorm? Mmm, Orieus. He has more clothing on.

Peter or Edmund? I shall shock you all and say that i like Edmund better. =)

Susan or Lucy? Lucy!

Jadis or Miraz? Oh i like Miraz better. At least he's not some half-giant person. And he has a cool accent.

Jill or Eustace? Eustace

Reepicheep or Trufflehunter? Reepicheep!!!!

Trumpkin or Nikabrik? Trumpkin!

Polly or Digory? I like Polly better

Bree or Hwin? Bree! And he should have married Hwin!

Aravis or Shasta? Shasta. Cooler name, cooler person.

Rilian or Tirian? Tirian!

Coriakin (the magician) or Ramandu (the star)? Ramandu i guess

Awww.... that's it? Oh well. It was fun! Happy-Anniversary-of-Prince-Caspian's-Release! (Ha ha ha)

*sits and waits for someone to ask: So if Peter isn't your favorite Pevensie, king or character and you like Edmund better ... then why did you marry Peter!?!?!"*

Interview Meme

New meme, courtesy of Trina. First, the rules.

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me".
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1. How many siblings do you have?
Hmm, I have 6. At least, that's how many I had the last time I checked. The never ending sibling wars might have killed a few more since then.

2. Do you prefer the new order Mass or the Traditional Latin Mass?
Well, I've only been to a Low Traditional Latin Mass, so I can't really say there. I do, however love the Novos Ordo mass. So I guess I prefer the Novos Ordo

3. What blogs do you visit regularly and why?
I regularly visit the blogs that I follow, for the convenient reason that when they post something new it pops up on my dashboard and I don't have to go click through all the links. I'm lazy that way. :P (If you're wondering why I don't put up the blog list that has the updates on my sidebar, it's because it takes up too much space and I have tons of other junk up there.)

4. What do you do in your spare time (if you're not online. :) )?
Ha ha, yes, if I'm not online. Well, I either crochet, read or play the piano. When the mood strikes me I write something. But yeah, that's it.

5. Why did you choose the name of your blog?
Well, I originally had "Lady of the Rose", which came from my web name "Lady Rose". I never really liked it though because "Lady of the Rose" sounds almost like some secret Masonic order or something. (Paul, if you read that you are probably laughing. It's your fault anyhow. *grumbles* You're always talking to me about creepy masonic things.) So I changed it to "A Rose in Bloom" which happens to be the title of my favorite Louisa May Alcott book. And I think it fits better too. I mean, "Lady of the Rose" is kind of ambiguous, but "A Rose in Bloom" isn't as much. I'm a teen and that's usually when girls bloom from children to young ladies, and I'm a 'Rose' (at least on the web), so yeah. That's why I picked it!

If you want me to interview you, just drop a note in the comment box and I'd be more than happy to do it!

Another Meme!

I was tagged for this by the wonderful Mamselle Clare Duroc, formerly of The Time When Lilies Bloom, now of I Have Loved the Rain.

THE RULES
Link to the person who tagged you, list the rules, write six random things about yourself, tag six-ish people by leaving comments on their blogs and let the person who tagged you know that you've written the post.

1. I am the virtual mother of 12 kids, the virtual wife of King Peter the Magnificent, virtual aunt 34 people on the Fairy Tale Novels Forum, as well as a virtual great-aunt *faints* and the virtual sister of nine amazing girls and one boy. (My "big brother" Paulie :) ) I love being apart of this virtual family, we have developed close relationships and have a blast coming up with weird and wacky adventures. (Ex: My niece married the Witch King, My great-aunt got kidnapped by Sauron, I was proposed to by Sauron, etc.) Being part of a virtual family is only half of it, joining the forum and making all these wonderful friends is one of the best things that has happened to me!

2. I am a complete Civil War Nut as well as a Victim of Tolkienmania. Before these to I was a horse lover, but that died a year or so ago. Which after reading all those stories about the horse people who lost their horsenuttinessinteenageyearsbecauseofboys, I'm not surprised. Though I didn't stop being a horse lover due to boys... I think it was more of the overwhelming influence of Tolkien and the Civil War. I don't think I will lose either of those though. Like my unlce told me, once you've been bitten by the Civil War bug, that's it, you are hooked for life. Which is perfectly fine with me!

3. I have preformed in three church Christmas plays, four self-written skits, and (as of January 2009) seven plays with the Little Flowers Catholic Dance and Theatre Troupe. Throw in the "Life and Liberty" dance performance we did last May and it's eight. So... 15 productions in all. In one ("Remember Me") I had seven parts, three were back-to-back! Was that hectic! I loved the parts, but two 3 minute or less costume changes right in a row was more than enough! They are a bit fun, I will admit... and it certainly is helpful to be a 'quick change artist'!

4. I do not like reading poetry. Yes, I will admit that the thought of sitting down with a book of poems is enough to make me want to run away screaming. About the only poetry I will read is Tolkien's... but that is part of the story. (Now don't kill me, but my brain does tend to go on skim mode for most of the poems in the Hobbit, and one or two in the LotR). I know most of you are probably horrified and shocked... but I really don't like it. This is probably even more horrifying for those who know that I write poetry. Prepare to be shocked... I love writing poetry! Yet I dislike reading it. (Well, I like reading mine, sometimes). How strange is that?

5. I have my very own Fairy Godmother! (Actually, she is my confirmation sponsor, but you don't know that.) She is the wonderfullest person I know, and is the big sister that I never had and always longed for; a real blessing!

6. Let's make this last one really random, shall we? Hmm... let me see.... I am almost as tall as my mom (though she will not admit it) and I have a 12 year old sister who claims to be almost as tall as me (though I do not admit it.)

I now hereby tag.... The Random Evil Twins, Grace, Vicki, and Hannah

30. Favorite book: Currently? Oh, this is hard... er, either Gods and Generals or Martin the Warrior or Black as Night.

31. What is your middle name: I am sorry, I can't give that info away. Computer security, doncha know? ;) *calls over shoulder* Is that better?

32. Who is your favorite author(s): J.R.R. Tolkien, Jeff Shaara, Jane Austen, Regina Doman, Alexandre Dumas and Brian Jacques.

33. Favorite music to listen to (artists, style, etc.): Country! Josh Turner, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Kieth Urban, others whom I can't remember right now. I like soundtracks as well: Gods and Generals, Gettysburg, The Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean, Miss Potter. In other genera: I like Celtic Women. Josh Groban is fine, but I don't listen to him, because I have none of his CD's, George Winston is good (pianist.) Anything dramatic I love, which is why soundtracks are my favorite genera for non singing listening. When I feel like singing.. nothin' beats Country!

Tag! You're It!

Delaney tagged me with this meme on her blog. (How do you pronounce meme anyhow?)

Rules
Link to the person that tagged you, post the rules somewhere in your meme, answer the questions, tag six people in your post, let the tagees know they’ve been chosen by leaving a comment on their blog, let the tagger know your entry is posted.

Who is your all-time favorite author and why?
Hmm, I'd have to say... oh this is hard. Regina Doman, because her books are so wonderfully Catholic, romantic, adventurous and suspenseful! The kinds of books I totally adore! Not to mention, having met her, she is such a wonderful and friendly person!
Photo finish with Tolkien for all-time favorite.

Who was your first favorite author and why? Do you still consider him/her to be among your favorites?
I'd say my first favorite author was Carolyn Keene, the author of the Nancy Drew mysteries, which I used to completely devour. I don't consider her to be one of my favorites any more, because while I still enjoy one of the book every now and then, I have moved on to other books. (Not to mention they do get very similar as time goes on... and there is 50 of them.)

Who is the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
Let's see, I'd say... Brian Jaques! I just love both his Redwall series and The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman, both are excellent! Many of the Redwall books have kept me on the edge of my seat, and I love the hidden Catholic elements in the Castaway's series. (Yes, Jaques is Catholic!) Some might argue that the books (namely those of Redwall) are all similar, like the Nancy Drew books, I defend them, because while the plot lines may be similar - and I admit that they are - the characters differ from book to book, giving you the added interest of getting to know each new set of people, I mean animals. =)

Actually.... Jeff Shaara is the most recent. (How could I forget him????) He writes the best Civil War novels I have ever read! They are absolutely fantastic, one of the most un-biased stories of the Civil War I have ever read, truthful, and very engaging! You are so drawn into the stories of the men who led and fought the Civil War, feeling almost as if you knew them! I could go on and on and on.. but I won't. They are great!

If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?
J.R.R. Tolkien, Regina Doman, Jeff Shaara, Jane Austen, Douglas Southall Freeman (his bio on General Lee is great!), Alexandre Dumas, Allen French, and whole bunch of other people that I just know I am forgetting!

I now hereby tag:
Claire
Clare
Vicki
Hannah
Kaila
Master Paul Xavier

Have fun y'all!

Tag! You're It!

My dear godmother Claire tagged me, so here is what I must do...
1.) Link to the person who tagged you. (check!)
2.) Post the rules of tagging on your blog. (check!)
3.) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (check!)
4.) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to them. (check!)
5.) Let each person know they have been tagged by commenting on their website.
So here it goes...

1.) My name was originally going to be "Amanda Lynne". My grandma, however, refused to let my mom name me that because.... "It sound's like an instrument!" (A mandolin - Amanda Lynne.) Oh, and I was named "Amanda" after this allegedly "cheesy" song called "Mandy" by Barry Manilo(sp?).

2.) My dream home is a mansion on a large plateau on top a majestic mountain with an absolutely breathtaking view off the front of the house. And the house MUST have a wrap-around porch/walkway with huge columns in the front. Oh yes, and an interior "North Woods" decor. Preferably somewhere in either Alabama near the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, or in the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia, near Lexington. (How quirky is that?)

3.) I have never tasted a dessert that was too sweet for me... however, some things are just too chocolate-y.

4.) I have been told that when my sister, Megan, was born, someone came to tell me that my new sibling was a girl, to which I just looked at them and replied. "I knew that already!" (An aside, I was correct about all the rest of my siblings, with the exceptions of the last two.)

5.) I was the only person at my Confirmation who had the name "Rose."

6.) And.... one of the many and varied reasons that I like the Confederates is... *and I blush* I just love that shade of gray that they use for the uniforms! (Well, they used it in the movies, anyways.) It is just soooo pretty! *sighs at her frivolous self*.

Only six things!?!?! That was fun! Now to tag people.

First, my dear mother, who tries to Homeschool with Joy!
Bryant who says He Whom I Have Not Seen, I Love, meaning Our Lord, of course!
Paul Xavier, who's Catholic Discussions I delight in reading.
My favorite author.... Regina Doman.
Family friend Mr. Miller and the rest at Miller Time,
And finally, Signa Veritae!

Now, off to let them all know that they have been tagged.... Watson, the game is afoot!
