It has been soooooo long since I last did a real blog post! By that I mean a blog post that wasn't pirates themed, or a review of something or talking about Ink and Fairydust... the last time I did something personal was July 1st when I talked about the first day of ReginaCon! But even that wasn't me just rambling on and on about - me. ;)
In fact overall I've been neglecting this poor blog quite shamefully. Well, today I shall write a long and delightfully random and rambling blog post that shall probably be of interest only to myself.
Summer time is nearly over now... it was quite an action packed summer at that! A trip to Florida in May, a travel down to Virginia in June, a weeks break and than off to Ave Cor Mariae Summer Girls Camp 2010! It was lovely getting to see old friends again for a wonderful week of faith and fun. Then the mornings of the last two weeks of July were spent enjoying "Musica Dominum Dei", a Sacred Music camp run by a young lady I know. We learned Gregorian chant, a few hymns, as well as music interpretation. The music interpretation was so much fun! I loved listening to the songs and either writing a story for it, painting with colors that expressed the mood, or coming up with an explanation for the different rhythms, instruments... it makes listening to music even that much more interesting and fun! We finished the week by traveling up to a convent and singing for Mass there. The sisters were very welcoming and we had a lovely breakfast with them afterward.
August has been spent in anticipation of college. I went to my orientation day the first week of August and had a grand time. I love my college and I can't wait until classes start! I'll be doing English, Math, Intro to Visual Literacy and my first year experience class for the first term. I'm looking forward to the Honors retreat in a few weeks - which, funnily enough, is at the same place as Ave Cor Mariae! It'll be nice to see the girls I met at Orientation and get to know them a little bit better before we jump into the fun and activities of Welcome Week. I am glad I met them, it's reassuring to already know some people with similar interests when venturing into a strange and new world.
So now I am waiting in impatient expectation for classes to start while my friends have all left and started college already. This will be a new experience for me, no doubt of that. Driving to classes everyday, actually having to drive everyday. Bleh, not looking forward to that - I'm not overly fond of driving. Getting a job (I hope!)... being in a classroom. I think the classroom will be the biggest change and adjustment for me. For most of my highschool, I taught myself and only had my mom teaching me when I was stuck on something and couldn't figure it out on my own. So to have someone teaching me, not being able to go ahead or fall behind when I want to (*cough* No, I didn't fall behind that much.) and sharing a classroom with a bunch of other people instead of just myself in my room... yeah, it'll be different! But I am very excited to be starting this new chapter in my life!
Well... I believe that is the extent of my ramblings for today. I shall try to not let quite so many months pass before I write again! Farewell.

Random Jumbled Togetherness
First things first - I finished my last subject in school yesterday! *throws confetti* I'm now un-officially done with highschool and homeschool education. *sniff* College in the fall! *cheers* I feel like I should say something profound about my homeschool experience and how it's impacted my life - but I can't think of anything, so maybe I'll save it until I'm officially graduated on Tuesday.

My Year
Wow, it's that time of year again... time for me to write a long post about my year and what I've been up too. Can't imagine why anyone would want to read it, but hey - it'll keep the stalkers happy.

So... where to begin...
January
The highlight of January was definitly being able to go on the March for Life. It was so wild, how I was even able to go. I literally asked to go, received permission and got signed up with a group the weekend before!
It was so awesome... the ride there, all the cool people I met, the March itself was beautiful, getting to see all the monuments afterwords! It was so beautiful. Hopefully, my sisters and I will be able to go again this year.
February
Hmm, well, I didn't do much in February, other than practice for the Seven Last Words performance. Boring me.
March
In March I left sweet 16 behind and turned 17! It's been awful! Gah! This whole year past, at least up until the last month, I kept thinking that I was still 16 and not 17. I never forget what age I am, but for what ever reason I stayed mentally 16 for so long it was annoying. "So you're saying sixteen isn't an age, it's a state of mind?" Fish was right.
But my birthday was lots of fun. We had a performance for the Seven Last Words the day before my birthday, and afterwords my friends Jo and Cordellia and I skipped up and down the hall singing "Sixteen going on Seventeen" as loud as we possibly could. Then on my birthday, friends of mine came over for the day and the most dramatic event of the year happened... my four year old brother proposed to my fifteen year old friend! He's been desperately in love with her ever since, sends her e-mails and we hear of little else.
Let's see, also in March I registered my domain name for my website http://www.modesty-mall.com/.
April
Good heavens, I didn't do anything in April either? Shame on me. =P
May
I got my website homepage up this month! Yay! And I have since gotten five other pages up. Hopefully a sixth, seventh and eighth should be up very soon.
Also, I took the SAT and got a 1930, I think. I think. It actually might have been a 1928? *shrughs* Oh well, I got a fairly decent score.
June
June saw the confirmation of my next two younger sisters, Kathleen and Yaviel. It was a traditional confirmation, in Latin, which was really neat!
The last weekend in June my family took a vacation too The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL. It was so wonderful! My friend Jo and her family were down there at the same time as us, but they didn't know we were coming down, so we gave them what was hopefully a lovely surprise! My grandparents came down with us too, and we took a trip to EWTN and sat in on a show where Yaviel almost got to ask a question, but they ran out of time.
We came home from Sweet Home Alabama just in time for...
July
The Ave Cor Mariae Summer Girls Camp! This was my sixth year going, and it was just grand - as always. I got to see my loverly sister Vicki and niece Hannah... it was so much fun to have Hannah calling me "Auntie Rose" all week and seeing the puzzled looks on all the non-forum girls faces (that was just about everyone else.) And I got to see fireworks this year! The past two years it hasn't worked out on the 4th of July, so I've been deprived of fireworks for two whole years! But I got to see them this year, and they were very nice.
When I came home, Vicki, Hannah and I did our second annual Pirates of the Caribbean Blog Week, funness all around!
August
I died. Yup, you read that right. I died. Or more correctly, Rose Pevensie died. (My character on the forum.) It was sooooo much fun, and so dramatic too! It almost made me feel better for not being able to go to the Fairy Tale Novels Fan Get-Together (AKA ReginaCon. ;) ) Ooh! That reminds me! I got to talk to my daughter Grace and brother Paul and my sister Elena said hi. =) Next year I'm going and meeting them. (Which means they must be there, hint, hint.)
Let's see, what else did I do? Ah, I went up and visited Hannah and Vicki and I got a cold that lasted until October!
September
Ah, September. =) I started school and became a Senior, I volunteered at our local county fair - which was fun, since I didn't enter projects - and went to my first dance. Ah, it was lovely. I wore the skirt that I made and danced to all of the dances!
September also featured Lord of the Rings Blog Week and the first issue of The Fairy Tale Novels Forum's newspaper, Ink and Fairydust.
October
The second issue of Ink and Fairydust came out, with an article by yours truly on the front page. =) I took the ACT (and got a 30). And... that's it.
November
The third issue of Ink and Fairydust came out, this time with a new format and once again with something from me featured on the front.
Now, many of you may know that November is NaNoWriMo, but I decided that for me it would be PePoWriMo - at least this month. PePoWriMo stands for Personal Poetry Writing Month, and I wrote a poem every day for the whole month. I'm working on converting the document into a PDF so I can upload them for y'all to read.
A Rose in Bloom also celebrated it's two year anniversary!

For December I did BloPoWriMo, and managed to get a post in every day except for three days. I'm happy to say that I only missed those three days due to necessity, and not because I couldn't think of anything to post. =)
In my personal life, I changed locations and got accepted into college with the top scholarships. So I know where I'm headed next fall.
So that is a review of the past year in my life. Not quite as exciting as last year - either that or I just slacked off on the writing skills today.
I hope you all had a blessed and joyful 2009, and that you will have an even more blessed and joyful 2010

Merry Christmas!
Yay! It's Christmas! Yahoo!!!! Day number Two!
Christmas was wonderful this year. =) No snow Christmas morning, but there is a TON outside right now and it's still snowing! It's soooo pretty outside.

The Joys of Having an Amazing School Schedule
I have an amazing school schedule this year. It's an absolute dream. I get up, go to Mass - don't have to take any of my subjects in the car - get home just in time to start my first subject and finish at 3 in the afternoon. All the subjects are working out splendidly, I don't exceed my allotted time slots for any of them. *sighs contentedly*
Though it does cause problems when the car doesn't start so you can't go to Mass, so you just sit around until 9 because that's when you think you start and after starting at 9 realize that you weren't actually supposed to start until 9:30... then you finish at 10:30 and are sitting there with absolutely nothing to do because if you do your after lunch subjects, you won't have anything to do after lunch!
That happened to me today, but instead of sitting around for an hour and a half doing zilch, I decided to make lunch. I whipped up a double batch of chocolate chip cookies and then made cheeseburgers for everyone for lunch. Impromptu home economics class saves the day!
In addition to cookin' midday meal fer me dear family, I found a way to turn me normal way 'o speakin' into scurvy pirate speak! tis was found by me "sister" 'n bucko Elena. She posted th' link on her blog this day, so bin be tryin' it out. 'tis really a ruckas! ye give a go' it! I just might have to do all me messages 'tis way! Here be th' link so ye can give a go' it out! Well, that's all I have the hour fer this day folks, spy wit' ye eye ye later!
Though 'tis temptin' to just keep typin' random nonsense into th' tavern... but I suppose I'll save that fer another day.

What ever to do with intellectual four year olds?
Today, i should like to inform all older siblings of younger siblings who don't realize this yet, younger siblings can and will pick up and remember just about anything you do! That includes the movies you watch and the conversations you have. For example...
My four year old brother is a major Phantom of the Opera fan. Yes, he is 4!!!! He knows some of the words to the song "The Phantom of the Opera" (and can be occasionally heard singing "the phantom of the opera is there, inside your mind!"). Once when i was at home babysitting him, i asked him what movie he wanted to watch. To which he replied "Thomas! No, i want to watch the Phantom of the Opera!" Imagine, a little boy who would pass up Thomas the Tank Engine for the Phantom of the Opera. Oh dear.
Then today - prompted by my sister and i remarking over a PotO themed cake we saw yesterday at the Fair - he comes out with "I want a PotO cake for my birthday! I want the boat and the phantom and a paddle". Yaviel (the cake decorator in training) replied "Don't you think that is a bit much?" My bro's response "No it isn't! It's only three things!"
Later on in the conversation, he corrected Yaviel - who was in error - as to the correct number, shape and color of the Phantom's masks. He also informed us that he wanted to get a mirror.
"Why?" we asked.
Mr. Phantom of the Opera responded with... "So i can smash them when i'm angry!"
*cough*
He has now dubbed himself "The Phantom of the Opera", pointing to the PotO pictures on the screensaver saying "That's me!", and has decreed that we shall perform a play of the PotO, in which he shall star as the Phantom. (He already has found himself a costume.)

He has now dubbed himself "The Phantom of the Opera", pointing to the PotO pictures on the screensaver saying "That's me!", and has decreed that we shall perform a play of the PotO, in which he shall star as the Phantom. (He already has found himself a costume.)
And so my dear readers who are older siblings who don't realize yet that their younger siblings can and will take in everything you do... consider yourself forewarned!

The Joys of Having a Kleenex Addiction
One of the side effects being a nose that looks somewhat like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer's. And for those out there who do not know what a Kleenex addiction is, the author of this post wishes to clarify it as: a horrid headcold. She happened to catch it yesterday rather suddenly. 'Twas a bit of a shock, as she has not had a kleenex addiction this bad in quite a while.
It leapt up and strangled her on her way home yesterday, after eating a medium sized congestion amplifier (read: ice cream) and driving through the deadly "Congested Area".
She kids you not! Before driving through the congested area, she did not have a kleenex addiction. After driving through there... well, if you have read the first part of her blog post you know what happened.
Yes, she is complaining. No, she should not really be typing this blog post at the moment. Yes, she ought to be resting. No, she isn't. Why? Because she for some odd reason or another felt the need to announce to the world that she has had a kleenex addiction and Sudafed is USELESS!!!!

Photo Shoot
A week or so ago i realized that i just so happened to possess a "Rose outfit". (AKA, something Rose Brier wears in the Fairy Tale Novels)
Quite naturally, when i realized that Rose and i had the same outfit, i simply had to take some photos! My dear sister Yaviel willingly obliged me by trekking down to the 'coyote-infested' creek ;) and taking lots and lots of photos, some of which i decided to share with you. (Though i shall be honest and confess that i don't actually play the violin. Some of my siblings have, but quite frankly, i was never interesed. Vive the Piano!)
Of course, in return for this favor i had to "insult" her (The Mikado word for a bribe) by doing a photo shoot of her in her medieval dress. Now that i had a lot of fun with, because when she is think she makes the goofiest faces so i can't but help to take pictures of them. I don't do that, hence the reason there are goofy pictures of her and no goofy pictures of me. And also the fact that Yavi still looks pretty when she's making weird faces and i don't.
(Ha ha, for those out there who have seen the movie "Ever After", we captioned the last photo as "There was a bee." )

Quiet good, eh? There are a few things that i would still fix (if i knew how), but on the whole i'm rather proud of it. 'Twas a genius of mine imagination, though the original idea to stick her hand out in front was Yaviel's. Someday i'll get around to posting the photos we took from that photo shoot.

5 Quick Takes Saturday - Vol 12

So i started doing these Quick Takes Saturday in imitation of Conversion Diary because i wanted to do the 7 Quick Takes but my mom said all the people who do it are older (as in married or over 25) so i should start my own and have it as 5 takes so that other teens would want to do it to. But *looks disapprovingly at readers with blogs* no one has!!! (Except the Other Katy, who did it once or twice). *looks pleadingly* Come on guys/girls! Coming up with 5 quick (or not) things isn't that hard! And it gets so lonely doing it all by my little lonesome! Puh-leaseeeee?????~ 2 ~
I have planned to do a few sewing projects over the summer, one of them being my dream skirt:
Yes, yes, yes i know it isn't finished yet! That's just the material and i am head over heels in love with it. I have always wanted a red skirt and this fabric is such a beautiful shade of red! Here's a bit of a closer look at it, along with the skirt style:
Isn't it purty? It kind of reminds me of glowing strawberry jello...I started it yesterday and got about half way through, it's a fairly easy pattern. And it's really wide! My sister made one out of denim and it has a very full skirt - perfect for spinning!
And don't worry, i shall be sure to post pictures of the finished project when it is finished!
Oh, and if you want to make your own skirt, the pattern is a McCall's M5566.

Randomness: (i am writing this on Friday, btw). Previous to typing this post i was making pizza and i just looked down at my fingers and realized that i must have forgotten to properly scrub my nails because there is hard and crusty pizza dough all over them! Well, when i'm done here...~ 4 ~

- Ave Cor Mariae Summer Girls Camp 2009! If you girls out there ages 13-16 have never gone (17+ is by approved application) then i suggest you consider looking into going this year! This will be my fifth year going, and i assure you - it's a lot of fun!
- Filming to begin for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
- Bilbo Baggins to be cast for The Hobbit. And they had better pick someone just as good as Ian Holm, or i shall be terribly upset and disappointed. (That means NO James McAvoy!)

Rose Randomly Rambles Rather than Retiring
Ok ok, one last post for today and then I'll go to bed I promise!
Tada! Thank you! Thank you! I just had to sing that today, because I won't be able to after this week. Why, may you ask? Well, I shall whisper you a secret... I turn 17 on Friday! It's my birthday preciouss! Ha, that reminds me. The other day, I was in a rather hyper mood, and I was talking in a Gollum/Smeagol voice to my sister Yaviel and I looked out the window and saw the UPS coming up the drive. I declared that I would answer the door, grab the package and say (in a Gollum voice, of course) "It's my birthday present preciousss, and we wantss it!" Yavi actually believed me (and to tell the truth, I might have really done it!) and chased me into the basement so I couldn't open the door.
Second thing I wanted to share with you... I registered the domain name for my web-site last week! The address is modesty-mall.com. Nothing is up yet, but I will definitely keep you all posted! For those of you who didn't know (and that would probably be all of you), I have been working on building a website on modesty since the start of the school year. It's going to be all about modesty, why to dress modestly, how to dress modestly, where to find modest clothing, books on modesty and a whole bunch of other fun stuff.
Now you may be thinking, "What! She started back in August and just registered her domain name? She must not have been working much on it!" Wrong, as a matter of fact, I work on it at least two hours a week. So you may then think, "Well at least two hours a week, what's her problem? Just registered her domain name!? Sheesh! I would have registered it a long time ago and been writing a bunch of pages by now!" Well, if you think that, then you've never heard of SiteSell. To learn just what SiteSell is, simply click on the link. I think you will find it quite fascinating. Basically, the whole concept is building a site - centered on something you know and love. Building a site that is successful, popular and earns you an income! Interested now? ;)
